Cactus flowers hold a special place in my heart. When I was in second or third grade my Dad and I brought home a very small cactus after a camping trip. We planted it in a hanging basket and the following year it had a huge purple bloom that eclipsed the actual cactus. I thought is was so beautiful. I'm pretty sure that it was a native lace cactus. The landscape around the home I live in now was untouched with Yucca, Prickly Pear Cactus and my beloved Lace Cactus growing wild. These paintings were based on photographs of the Prickly Pear Cactus and Lace Cactus from my yard. The Cholla belongs to a neighbor. Though they are native in west Texas, we're a little too far east for them to be growing wild here.
These three pieces are 8 x 8 inch and the outer dimensions of the copper-look frames are 14 x 14 inch. All are acrylic on panel.
In order: Cholla Cactus Flowers, Prickly Pear Cactus Flowers and Lace Cactus Flowers.
They can be purchased either as a group or separately ($375 each) through Your Private Collection Gallery on the Historic Granbury Square in Granbury, Texas
